Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. What about the other Holidays?

Love 'em all, no hates! Eggnog with a bit of rum; fruit cake, preferably soaked with Jack Daniels; lutfisk (even the spell checker doesn't like this one) when PROPERLY prepared, which is rare; ostakaka with lingonberries; blodpudding with lingonberries & bacon (haven't had this since my grandmother died many years ago, she was a wonderful Swedish cook) ... better quit now, this is making me hungry again!

I don't particularly fancy fruitcake, but my husband adores it. He can't get enough of it. The only fruitcake I've ever relished was a white macadamia nut/pineapple one, the recipe for which I've somehow managed to misplace.

Even people who detest fruitcake clamour for that one. I do love Egg Nog...with or without alcohol, as do all members of my family. I also love Christmas (aka Plum) Pudding, along with Hard Sauce, both of which some people scorn.

So, not to leave anyone out, I also make a steamed Chocolate Pudding with Fluffy Hard Sauce. BQ: The only holiday favourites I don't care for are candy canes, of all things (I know, right?) and roast goose.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
