The hardest part of depression is making out things are ok when they aren't. It might be really difficult to try talking to your Mum? But once you do you will be glad you did.
She might not understand right away, but she (I'm sure) would rather know how you feel and want to be there for you/ be a good listener, etc. You aren't alone, I had the exact same when I was your age, well from age 11 to 19. I fought depression, but without eventually telling my parents at age 18, I would never have got through it. Now, I look back on those times as if I were a different person in a really bad place.
Things do get better, just got to be strong and a fighter.
I help kids with these problems as I have been there too. Those bullies are made of pure stinking dog mess. They only feel good when they hurt others which means that they are made of nothing.
IF you look at the bullies, you will see that they are always ugly, do poorly in class and annoy not just you but many others, at their homes, in their neighbourhood ...everywhere.... You are just one of the victims. Don't self harm Please. This is not your fault.
You are not responsible. Why should you pay for the crimes the criminals commit? These bullies always grow up to be NOTHING in life.
Nothing. Absolutely Nothing! Know why?
The amount of tears that people have cried because of them, they bring a curse or bad spell upon themselves. Empty Vessels make alot of Noise. The more the noise comes out of their mouths, the more they will suffer in the future.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
