New Super Awesome/Cool/Rad Feature - MAHALO BADGES?

Awesome idea Mahalo! I really like the idea of adding to the reward system here in Mahalo Answers. Now we have personal statistics, Mahalo Dollars, user recognition, and Mahalo Badges as the 4 corners of the Mahalo Answers reward system.

I have one question though. Will any of the badges be retroactively awarded? I noticed some of the Mahalo staff has been awarded the 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year badges and was wondering if the long time users we have here in Mahalo Answers would be retrofitted with these or any of the badges?

I cannot even tell you how excited I am about these badges! What a cool way to stay involved! For some of us, I feel like these will come naturally, and maybe in some cases surprisingly - as in: "You mean I get a BADGE for that?

AWESOME! " Thanks guys - thanks for your hard work and brainstorming. This is super-cool...

As a Playstation 3 gamer, I can't express enough how addictive trophies/achievements/badges are. I already got my first badge for answering five questions, and hope to earn many in the near future. Is there also a 'diamond' badge for winning all badges, and a badge leaderboard?

:) Love this new feature!

They look amazing! No more Halo Reach Achievements for me! I'm moving to Mahalo Achievements now...hahahaha!

I just love this new badges, except for the logging in...Because I don't log out! :)))).

Cool badges! Makes me want to answer some more questions... like right now! I can't help but notice they are all a bit masculine.

I even believe the cute dog is a boy doggie. Could you consider some more girlie ones for future? I understand if not.

I agree, awesome idea! I am so excited about all of the new and exciting changes. I am blessed and honored to be a part of Mahalo and I now embrace all of the amazing changes.

I thank you Corey and Jason (and the rest of the staff) for including us and allowing us to grow with you! The badge system is super awesome.

I am loving the new idea. It makes this site more fun already. Since the belt ranks are so spread out this gives me something to do while I level up.

Wow! This is so much fun. I just unlocked my first badge (mentor).

Now going for the 2nd and the 3rd and ...all of 'em. Looking forward to seeing more badges. It kinda feels like unlocking a treasure in a video game.Am so loving it.

Picks up school intercom phone* "And there will be a Webelos meeting in the gym this afternoon at four. Camp Fire girls will meet in the media center. " Okay, okay, I am joking. It's not really all that cheesy.

Yes, the idea of badges is slightly reminiscent of earlier boy scout troops (pre-child molester leaders and questionable discriminatory policies), but it also gives you something to strive for. I like goals. I like earning things.

Granted, there is very little monetary incentive within Answers anymore, but I would like to see the community reborn again more than anything. We have some great people here, and I would like to see even more. Any time that there is an incentive added for participation, there is a greater likelihood that participation will increase.

Hoo-rah. Can I get a beanie hat and some real-life badges too? Because that would totally rock my day.

You got me I am one of those people who love to win, so the more badges I get the better I feel, it shows me that I need to move up on something, or I have to do a little extra to meet that next level. Right now I have only one badge but here I come to get that next one today. Tommorro I will need to do another one until I have all of them.

See you on top.

I am totally jazzed with the badge concept. It felt like a real slog trying to get past purple belt level with such little recognition or reinforcement along the way. Also, I was actually being very choosy about what answers I would post because the two other statistics that are really meaningful to me are "tips given" and "% BA."

If I didn't feel I had a decent chance to get BA, I didn't answer, even if I had something good to say. And let's face it, @buddawiggi or @bunnyphuphu have built up so much goodwill within the Mahalo community, if they answer a question you're pretty much out of the running - but not always, it's just a daunting prospect to get BA over them. Having badges along the way will definitely help round out the whole participation picture and put the stats in better perspective.

More importantly, its quicker recognition, which motivates Mahaloans to participate. My biggest suggestion (and I can't emphasize this enough) is uber badges for VOTING. Voting questions and voting answers.

Thanks Jason, Devs, Cory, et al for all the effort.

Uh oh....achievements, badges, I might get sucked back into Mahalo Answers!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
