Nikon Coolpix 950--blurry pictures?

Nikon Coolpix 950--blurry pictures I was given a Nikon Coolpix 950, a pro digital camera (but an old one). Most of the pictures it takes are blurry, even with a tripod, especially if the subject is white or light-colored. Or the pictures have what looks like smoke in them, with lots of globes.

I have tried to play around with the menus but I don't know what anything means. My frustration level is sky-high. I can't afford a new camera; I have to make this one work.

The lens is clean. I am using brand-new CF cards. Ideas?

Sounds like a lens problem Sometimes this is caused by the fixed element in the lens being slightly displaced. Other causes are damage to the coating on the objective, or damage to the zoom mechanism alignment. All are beyond your ability to correct.

I'm afraid it's not a setting you can adjust. You might try posting one of your problem photos so the people here can see the problem. Somebody might be able to pin down the cause more accurately..

That camera is a 2 megapixel, 10 year old model. You can buy 10 times the camera today for less than a hundred bucks. Whatever it costs to fix this one would be wasted money.

If I was betting I'd say the sensor is shot.

2 I am unemployed, don't have a hundred bucks to pay bills much less buy a new camera. I was trying to figure out if it's a setting I can fix on my own. I hate to keep borrowing cameras from friends when I have one of my own I can't get to work.

3 I think he's telling you that there's not much hope for a camera this old, with such low resolution, sorry...cheaper to replace than repair...

4 Yup, the problems you describe don't sound like a settings problem. More like a bad sensor or possibly some sort of internal crud or coating deterioration on a lens. In the Digital Photography review they mention that it uses an older type of flash memory card and won't use the "newer" one (this from 1999).

Could be that the card you are using is not the right one for the camera. dpreview.com/reviews/nikoncp950/ .

Which memory card do I use for a nikon coolpix L12.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
