Rather than taking away collective bargaining rights entirely, what kind of reform would be a good compromise?

Automatic pay increases and collective bargaining rights are 2 different things. Collective bargaining is a form of freedom of speech and you are taking that away from the teachers and other government workers. That is not fair to these people and it is a political power grap to get reelected.

Since pensions are high, and many people have problems with this, you could've simply lowered pension entitlements to save money in the government. Taking away collective bargaining rights for wages is too extreme.

Yeah! Public Unions should pay for their benefits like the rest of us, considering that it is the tax payers who pay their salaries. We have to pay for our benefits in the private sector, why should they use our money and have it better!

The states are BROKE, what part of that do liberals not get?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
