Should a mother allow her 13 yr old child to smoke cigarettes or weed and display a tattoo?

No I don't think that they should I know that if I had children I would not 'openly' do those type of things in front of me. Now regardless that they will be exposed to and may do it behind my back I know that I would not allow it openly.

No they shouldn't. I think my mom gave up when I was about 16 and I wish she hadn't.

If the kid has a job and money to pay for cigarettes, then I say sure. It is a waste, but it shows that the kid is motivated to work for stuff. I strongly dislike smoking, but if people do it, it doesn't bother me.

Kids smoke and there is nothing parents can do about it at times. Every single one of my friends' parents is a great parent, but all of their kids started smoking cigarettes at 11 or 12. The parents didn't have a clue, I was the only one smart enough to stay away from it out of 12 of my good friends. My dad smoked when he was 13 all the way to 30.

He is now 53, many people think hes in his early 40s. He is in great shape and has a beautiful wife who still smokes at 52.It stinks really bad and it sucks that they smoke, but it's their life, money, and lungs. But ultimately I'd have to say absolutely not a parent should do everything in their power to prevent those 3 things from happening.

I think that kind of Mom is irresponsible and neglectful and doesn't give their kids any discipline. Those kids are going to be unhappy. No, at 13 they shouldn't be smoking cigarettes or weed or even have a tat.

Ummmm.... NO! Absolutely not! Why in the world would anyone ALLOW their kid to do such things?

It is shamefully bad parenting, There are laws to protect kids from parents who allow these behaviors.

Mothers that do this need help. Why would you want your own child doing this? It is getting bad though, I agree.

If you do this, you need your head smacked in a few times.

No way. The tat especailly worries me. No tattoo studio would ever tattoo a 13 yr old.

And if it's been done by a friend or friend of a friend how can you ensure sanitary issues?! That's really scary and possibly life threatening!

I would not allow my child to do those things at 13 years of age. If I caught my kid smoking at 13, I would make them smoke a pack of cigarttes in front of me until they vomited. Trust me it works!

Smoking weed, I will take them to my local jail and show them what happens when people are caught smoking or having pot on them. As far as a tattoo goes, well that's a forever thing and I would go after the person who did the tattoo with the legal system. If a mother allows, supports, or signs, for any of these things, I don't think it's the kid you should be worried about, it's the mother.

Absolutely not, a child of thirteen has not developed the part of the brain that involves concequinces of there actions. Thats not to say that they are not smart or have a good head on their shoulders but these things have far reaching effects.

NO I would say NO but then again I smoke and I have been smoking for 30 plus years. Is it fun and cool NO IT'S STUPID AND DUMB but I have been smoking for so long that I'm having a hard time to quit. Like most young kids I tried weed but I didn't like it so that was never my problem.

I had a hard time with booze yup not good either now that I'm OLDER and WISER. I find all the cool things I did then are my down fall. I, like so many kids I ran with the wrong crowd.

Now I sit here thinking how I wasted my youth trying to be cool. I was lucky some of my friends were not they are I'm sorry to say 6 feet under. What I see now at thirteen kids are having kids when they should be playing with barbies or cars and trucks in the sand box.

Or ride their bikes so no don't smoke or do pot or what ever other drugs there are. But then I can't understand the use of drugs anyway. That is my thoughts on the matter I can't control peoples lives but I wish they would just think a bit.

NO! I never did allow my daughters. But when my younger daughter likes the tatoos (exactly when she was 13) I got body stickers for her and we enjoyed only at home.

I think of myself very lucky with the mother I have who brought me up and shared an open mind and heart about everything . She was blunt to the point and I love her for it. But at 13 I don't want my kid to go around smoking, though I was a smoker when I was fifteen up till my 20th birthday .

Its not easy to quit once you start. As for the weed situation I never did drugs never, though if you knew me and some of the ppl I go around you would think I do soemthing but I dont. So the new thing is weeds ok it doesn't harm you , but I personally think its a gate way to other drugs , I lost three friends to drugs.

They all started off the same way trying a nothing drug like Weed and ending up into stuff that cant seem to stop using. I don't want my kids to do drugs if I ever have any. But im not super woman .

Shits gonna happen. And I can only hope I can stop it from killing or hurting them. As for tattoos eighteeen and thats my only say in the matter ok so I too at a young age was in love with tats.

But didn't get one unitl I was 18. Now I have 6, im all for them as long as they are 18 ..

..ahh no, no and no! Children are under the care of parents because they are minors! They don't have the maturity and sense yet to know what is best for URL1 may seem 'cool' to them at the time but when they get older they will regret it.

I think it would be incredibly irresponsible for a parent to allow smoking, drinking or weed (not to mention illegal).

No, 13 year olds don't make decisions based upon rationale thought......

No, at 13 you should still be a parent and as a parent a 13 is not a friend.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
