Should Mahalo allow its users to commit virtual suicide?

I can already tell you what the answer(s) would be. If you mean to wipe out just the details of your account, such that all posts submitted by you get relabeled as having been made by "John toe-tag #1", "Jane toe-tag #2", then you could probably twist their wrists into it with things like references to Fifth Amendment rights. If, however, you mean to wipe out all your posts, then they would pontifically declare that suicide is illegal.

I would say yes, one should be able to delete inactive accounts rather than staying on unused. The only problem I would see with this is if by committing "virtual suicide" if it will in turn delete all archived stuff that user has accomplished as well (i.e. Managed Pages, Answers and Questions).

Being able to do delete all of this would only hurt Mahalo in the long run, instead of just having an inactive account.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
