Should new questions offer higher price if the want visibility? $6 for the question to remain visible. There is a cost to visibility?

Your use of the word "should" may be misleading. It makes it appear you're suggesting a requirement, but I believe what you really are looking for is advice on what would be effective, not what Mahalo should force people into. Accordingly, here's my response.

There are two sections on the front page that (normally) allow a question to stay on the front page (FP) for reasonably long times. The lesser of the two (currently full of really old and mostly answered and BA-selected questions due to a temporary bug) is the Most Popular section. You can get a question placed there for about a day if it gets "interesting" votes from other users.

Usually even one vote will get a question in there, but two or more will almost always be enough. The drawback of this is that you need to motivate other members to vote up your question which will not be easy for many if not even most of your questions. Perhaps meta-questions might be easier for this - a list of say 10 links to questions on a related subject.

All you really need for this is an initial tip that will be enough to get people to open the meta-question, and you can state that you'll give the BA to the person who answers the most of the linked questions in 4 days (or 3, or 2) or the first person to answer all 10. Then the "interesting" votes can be as small as M$0.01 each. You can also offer your helpers tips for their efforts on your behalf.

The other section of the FP, and the better one in terms of longevity, is the As I explained to you on previous occasions, there is no specific amount that will always work there. My suggestion there is to find the mid-point of the existing questions tips in that section, and add a bit to go above that mid-point. If this leads to an amount that is unreasonably high, you can wait a couple of days and usually the amount will once again drop to a more reasonable level in the M$5 - M$10 range. As for complaints about pushing out other questions, you can and should space out your new questions a bit, so you don't fill the entire New Questions or a significant fraction of it at any point (except possibly the middle of the night in the US).

You can send out 2 or 3 new ones every hour or so and that should be ok. In the gh Tips section there is no such concern. If someone wants space there, all it takes is a sufficiently high tip.

That's what the section is all about there. You're buying visibility for several days by making the tip high enough. If someone objects, they can tip higher than you do.

I think 6$ would be too much New users don't have that much.

If I have a question that I really want an answer to or even a good quality answer, I will place a higher amount on it but I think that $6.00 would be too much for every question. The average is between .50 and a few dollars. Each question that is asked should be evaluated to determine the amount that should be placed on it.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
