First off the teller gave you incorrect information. No company can take any payments automatically on a monthly payment unless you sign a form allowing them to do so. Otherwise it is only allowed at the time you gave them permission to withdraw that one payment.
You could have easily gotten a manager to credit you account back and they would have charged back Direct TV. What you saw was a pending charge to your account. Since direct TV could not proof that amount taken at the time the banks processing took place, then the charge is removed.
Their mistake was caught in the system, and the debit to your account did not go through. You would not see a credit because pending means it has to be processed. When it was proofed, it was given back to you.
Proofing is a banking term for merchant and their credit card machines with the bank. Hope that makes sense.
They have done this to us causing our life insurance to be cancelled. Our contract was up 3 months ago all equipment returned. We left a small unpaid balance because their installation rep did not ground their dish causing our $1200 TV to lose all four HDMI's.
We didn't realize our Dish wasn't grounded until a licensed tech came and inspected it. DIRECT TV has done nothing to compensate us for the damage done to our TV! Furious that they have the balls to go into our account willy nilly and take money out of our account.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
