Because they want to hide their warmongering, theft, lies, immorality incompetence from the people. They want to make deals in the name of the people which will bring them money at the expense of the people. They also want to hide how flawed, incompetent and dangerous US Foreign policy.

The Democrats are guilty as well, but they are more careful because they can't go too far in antagonizing their left flank. The right flank which surrounds Obama includes Hillary who is part of the neo con clique.

The Democrats failed to investigate Bush, expanded the War on Afghanistan, Continue the War on Drugs including liberalizing access to pot, Re approved the Paytriot Act, Holder is preparing to indict Wiki Leaks, more people are being deported than ever, so the Democrats are almost as bad. The only Senator besides Bernie Sanders, who supports transparency, Russ Feingold was defeated for re election to the Senate. Voters are either totally ignorant , uncaring and being led around by the Right Wing Media Empire.

Conservatives and Republicans have never really wanted a transparent government. They only use the call for transparency as on off their election catch phrases. I am not a Conservative or Republican I just don't think every county in the world needs to have access to all of our government and military communications.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
