The at fault driver's insurance company wants me to hand over my title before they send me a check . Is this the standar?

They are going to get me a salvage title so I can still use the car. They want me to sign over the title send it to them and then they said they would send me a check. Then they would send me a salvaged title later.

If they are reimbursing you for the full cost of the car (that is, they are writing it off as a total loss)then, yes, they want to make sure that you aren't cheating them. BY the way, they should also pay to have it towed or removed from whatever it is one it becomes their property.

If they are declaring the vehicle totalled, then yes, you would hand over the title, because they are essentially buying the car from you.

I had a similar conversation when an overloaded truck ran a stop light into my mother-in-law's Cadillac, almost killing my oldest daughter. They wanted to only pay the blue book (and be done with it. ) I had to forcefully remind them of the above two facts that they would repair the car, don't care a rat's rear how much it cost them, buy a new Cadillac if you have to, you criminal.

Yes, it's the standard method, but as they're at fault, it need not be YOUR method.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
