Ernie seconds the "Drift boat" idea - MacKenzie River driftboat to be exact.
What Brenda said is exactly what I would have said. Drift boats are the ultra stable boats that the fly fishing guides use. (can't say for sure if there is an option for a one man drift boat).
Kayaks seem to work the best for the solo fishing trips...
I love my SOT kayak, but a Hyde drift boat is also a very nice choice.
A short ---maybe 10-12 feet--- kayak. Select a sit-on-top rather than sit-in kayak. It is cartoppable, light to portage, easy to lauch by a single person in a good sloping riverbank.
There should be a few in your area, or surf the web for it.
My husband would be better suited to answering this, but they do make pontoon fly fishing boats for 1-2 people that are capable of dealing with rivers. Search for things like fly fishing cataraft and check to see what the Creek Company has.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
