The holidays are getting near. What are your plans to have a great Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, etc? I am very excited for the coming holidays for my daughter. I want her to always experience the best and always be happy, have good memories while she is a child.

What are your plans, or thoughts about it? Me, If I am given the chance and extra money, and save what I can,with some support of friends, co-workers and familyWe would hold a Halloween or Christmas party at an orphanage...Have food, games, activities and prizes.So that my child will see and appreciate what she have. The single biggest thing I want to do this year is actually be in the Holiday Spirit… I do like the Christmas, and the holiday time of year, in particular Thanksgiving. More on that later. It is the way people think and the general frame of mind.

I like the music, the movies (the original Miracle On 32nd Street, and A Christmas Carol), the decorations, the traditions, and the general feeling of good tidings. To me it doesn’t matter what beliefs you or anyone else have, people just seem to be a little nicer this time of year. Last year, for some reason, I just could not get in the mood.It wasn’t until a couple of days before Christmas that I actually felt like I had Christmas spirit.

It took a lot of friends, co-workers, and half the people on Askville to get me into the spirit. So I am starting the Holiday Spirit early this year. One of the traditions that my wife started a long time ago was to invite the active duty military in the area, that don’t have family close, over for a great Thanksgiving dinner, and a lot of fun.

She started it when we were still on active duty. Since her passing, my friends and I have continued the tradition. The area that I live in does not have any local military bases, but you would be surprised at the number of active duty personnel that are in the area.

Last year we had 22 single people, and 7 families. That is quite a bit for just me and four friends and neighbors. Needless to say, I start planning a head now, particularly since I don’t make a whole lot of money right now.

I always like to cook for a large group, and it is a lot of fun to watch people enjoy the food. During the harvest that is going on now, I am able to buy a lot of bulk veggies, and preserved them by blanching, vacuum packing, and freezing them. Turkey season is coming up soon and I already have a whole ham.

I have started to buy and put away the extras. The other major event, of course, is football. We always set up a series of TVs throughout the house, wine cellar, porch, etc….

Every year, and I still have to try and figure this one out, after dinner the men are in one end of the house, the women in the other. Everyone is watching football, but it just seems to happen that way. The kids are usually playing with the dogs outside.

It may be a lot of planning, but well worth it. This year, I am starting early.So watch out Askville! Sources: A Little bit of good feelings, mixed with good wishes .

Christmas I want my family and of course boyfriend to have a very great christmas. We'll just celebrate it at home and I want it to be solemn. We will attend the midnight mass before Dec 25.

I'm also planning to have an overnight sleep at my boyfriend's house on dec 25. Hahahahahahaha! Malandi.... no I just want it to be very simple but solemn christmas..

Just try to do my best: (mom's past on - not enjoying Holidays as much - I just take it 1 day at a time enjoying my time with friends & family. Sources: my opinion .

Me.. if I would money to spend with I will treat my family and friends to a carribean delux 15 days vacation.. I just want to see my family happy and contented..... and if I have extra on that ill donate money to a charity organization so I can share the spirit of christmas which giving......

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
