No, Spartans were trained to be warriors from a very young age, so there would be no time to learn philosophy Another victim of popular culture Yes the Spartans were trained from a young age in the art of war. HOWEVER the Spartan art of war involved learning music, art, rhetoric, PHILOSOPHY amongst many other things. So technically all Spartiates were philosophers to some degree the Spartans were a fighting culture but were also well educated and would have been taught philosopy but battle and fighting skill would have came first in their culture.
