Why did the Spartans need to control the Helots?

Because the helots did not want to work as hard as they did, only to have the Spartans take it from them. So without the use of force, or the threat of force, the Spartans had no way to support their way of life.

The helots did all the menial work,in particular everything associated with agricultural production - which the Spartans needed for their food supply. Without control of the helots, the Spartans would have had to do their own farming or starve, and thus wouldn't have had the time to train as full time soldiers,so they would have had no military power.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
