For example, Bill Clinton exposed for having oral sex in the oval office. Or if George Bush was ever exposed for his cocaine accusations. How do they redeem their images into one that's good and reputable again?
I am interested in political strategy. If anyone knows any good books on the subject I'd like to know of them. Asked by Jekyll 49 months ago Similar questions: strategies overcoming wrap politics polishing image smeared Society > story.

PR issues In politics the tactic is generally twofold: for minor issues that you can control the release of make sure it happens late on Friday; on giant issues, find a bigger issue. Nothing gets the presidential seal off of an interns dress faster than blowing up a terrorist aspirin plant. In the corporate world and lower scale politics you hire a good PR Agency to handle these types of situations.
A professional PR agent can help you recover from all but the most catastrophic public image disasters ("Mr. Vick, Beelzebub calling to confirm your reservation? Put him on hold for a prison term? Certainly, sir.") Even in Vicks case the damage control has been astonishing.
1st rate PR firms can gauge public opinion on forecasted events through polling and test groups to a point of accuracy that allows public figures to avoid the worst outcomes and aim at the best. Traditional PR firms are having a very difficult time with the internet, however. On the internet you’re hard pressed to avoid bad press from the social networking engine (witness Askville).
Enter Search Engine Optimization Specialists. Normally SEO’s are hired to get something to rank higher in the search results but that really isn’t going to do a person with a severe online PR problem any good. There are a few who can help a client get rid of bad PR items from the first page of the results.
Www.webcoretech.com has a product called OPIP (online personal identity protection) aimed exactly at that market. They happen to be very ethical about how they go about it, but it still irks people. If ethics aren’t your bag you can always just hire a hacker to crash the opposing sites.
This happens. If you get caught doing it, however, you have to go to jail, so there is a downside. I digress.
Essentially, public relations is just marketing. You could do much better getting a firm grasp of marketing before you do your political PR quest. Here are a few books and sites that I think can prepare you for what you're aiming to learn... glad to share.

There is an effective strategy for handling problems like that when they surface. The most effective strategy is to minimize the problem and deny if possible. If the problem can't be denied, then apologize in a big public spectactle with spouse, children and supporters cheering you on.
If you are totally innocent, so you can't employ those strategies, then attack the attackers for a bit and then move on. After a week or so, the news media will find something else on overwork and the crisis will pass. The last thing that the victim of the smear should do is to file a lawsuit, because that will give the story "legs," as they call it in the news media.
After a while, most people will forget most of what was said. As they say in PR, "Say what you will about me, just spell my name right! Honesty All you can do is let time pass and let your actions speak for themselves. Of course the best thing is to not get yourself in that situation, but if you are in such a situation, you have to have all the good stuff that you do overwhelm the bad so people have to overlook it. That is the only thing one can do.As for the book, gotta wait for billary to write that one.
I have an idea.. I know how to overcome this. BE HONEST. SAY WHAT YOU MEAN AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY.
Pretty simple if you ask me.
1 Getting rid of a bad wrap is easy, through it in the garbage. A bad rap is a bit harder. As far as polishing your image, it depends on what you have been smeared with.My image is made from hardwood, so any oil smears are actually beneficial.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
