What are the difference's and similarities between cosplay and anime?

Cosplay is dressing up in costume OF anime characters. So yeah.

Cosplay is people dressing up as characters. Anime is a style of animating moving pictures. Listing similarities would be a lot easier than differences.

Cosplay has people who look NOTHING LIKE THE CHARACTERS and are usually unattractive people too, dress up and look retarded and they actually think they are doing justice to the anime they are trying to flatter. Anime is cartoon and is not retarded for the most part.
