I think the Republicans will be even worse than the Democrats. And I think the Democrats are bad enough -- at least that's true of the ones who keep compromising with Republicans on things like slashing the deficit at the cost of destroying public sector jobs. Or extending unneeded tax breaks for billionaires.
But the Republicans are promising to be even worse, even more extreme. Look at what Gov. Scott Walker is doing to teachers and other public sector employees in Wisconsin, for example.
Look at what Rep. Paul Ryan, in the US House of Representatives, is proposing to do to Medicare. The Democrats are wobbly and too much caught in the middle of the political spectrum, but the Republicans want to turn middle-class Americans and the poor, the widowed, the disabled & the orphaned into economic serfs.
Even as they push through huge, unneeded tax breaks for Wall Street speculators and millionaire CEOs. Just look at Scott Walker's record in Wisconsin, and his economic and political connections with the super-right wing Koch brothers, who are billionaires intent on destroying the American social safety net. I say middle-class Americans have to hold our noses and vote for the Democrats, at almost every level of government where the Democratic politician isn't an actual crook.
Because if we let the Republicans take more power at the state or federal level, the Republican right will destroy whatever traces of compassion still remain in this country.
People are just now starting to realize that there is a financial entity pulling the strings of our elected government, and what we witness on the nightly news is pure propaganda , we see the illusion of back and forth tactics of disharmony between both parties, when in reality, there both on the same page 100%, yeah there's a few honest politicians out there, they are a minority, and most americans don't have have the capacity to tell the difference because the media plays us like a fiddle. Eisenhower and JFK spoke about the military industrial complex during their tenures in office, everything they warned us of is currently happening, the secrecy, the loss of liberty through the push for tighter security, big banks controlling governments, much of what we argue about over politics is small potatoes in comparison to what is really going on in world government.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
