What can I do to stop the pain of an ingrown toenail while at work?

I am going to the doctor after work if I can make it that long! The pain is getting unbarrable and I think my mother-in-law made it worse when she put a tight banadge on it! Right now I just want to run around screaming in pain!

I have taken more than enough painkillers so I can not ake anymore.. Asked by SheweeGirl 49 months ago Similar questions: stop pain ingrown toenail work Health > Conditions & Diseases.

Get that bandage off. Ok, I have had a ton of ingrown toenails. It is PAINFUL!

The best thing I can tell you is take a bit of toilet paper or cotton ball or tissue and put it under the nail giving a little room between the skin and the nail. This will help so much. If you put too much in there, it will hurt too, so it's a fine line.

Play with it. Start with a little bit, then if you feel you need to add a bit, do it. You just want to leave space between the nail and the skin on the ingrown URL1 may hurt more while you fix it, but it will feel much better after you've done it.

Also, if you can take your shoes off at work, even better. If not, slide your foot out of your shoe as much as you can, having it squished is whats hurting you. If you can soak in warm salt water, do it...I know this is tough at work.

Getting to the doctor is the best, but these things should help in the meantime. I know it hurts, just try to stay off it and keep the pressure off. Good luck and feel better.

You’re doing the right thing getting to the doctor today.

This sounds weird but Anbesol will help. Its the stuff used as an oral pain reliever but it numbs wherever you put it. I would just get some of the generic kind though.

Works just as well. You may have to reapply it sometimes. It won't take away the whole pain but will numb up the outside of it.

That way you can wear a shoe. I havent used it for a toenail but im sure it would help.

Isolate the toe as much as possible! Ingrown toenails are no fun; I've had a few and they are always very painful. The best remedy I've found while your waiting to get to the doctor is to wear open-toe shoes (sandals are great), or at the very least loose fitting shoes.

If you're already at work and it's too late pop a tylenol to dull the pain until you get out of there, but take your shoes off whenever possible (and if allowed). Sources: Personal Experience .

Instead of waiting to go to your doctor go to your nail salon. Plus, they are open on Sundays.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
