What could be some causes for numbness in my left arm from my shoulder to my fingers for the past month?

For the past month my left shoulder has felt like it is asleep during most of the day. I do not have any history of injuries to my neck or left shoulder, but my lower back did freeze up for a couple days a couple months ago. I haven't done anything repetitive or anything to overuse it.

I have had a right shoulder surgery that started off as an impingement and led to a tear after several dislocations back in 2000. Any suggestions or ideas would greatly help me research this and prepare for my visit with the general practitioner at the VA next month. I'm assuming no injuries to relate that to... Could be a pinched nerve in your shoulder or neck. If you use a phone alot, it could be part of the problem. Then there is always a disk in your back.

I would see a Dr. Having recovered from back surgery myself, I no longer let things go unidentified if it could involve your spine (disks). If resting your upper body and alternating heat and ice does not help, I’d see the doc. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Could be carpul tunnl syndrome could be carpal tunnel syndrome my boyfriend has it he was a painter for years and it causes problems in your wrists and arms most carpenters get it or painters or people that work on computers carpal tunnel s a bone in the wrist. My boyfriend has had numerous surgeries and as a result of carpal tunnel syndrome he can be holding something and just drop it looses strenth in his arms and hand hope this helps .

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
