What do you study in ecology?

The word ecology can be broken into two parts. The first part the "eco" comes from the Greek word "oikos" and quite literally means home. The second part "ology" means the study of something (think archeology, cardiology etc.).

So basically ecology is the study of our home, of the earth. This includes everything, living and non living and most importantly Ecology is the study of all of these factors and how they interact. Most scientists who would call themselves ecologists.

To structure the study of ecology into a conceptually manageable framework, the biological world is organized into a nested hierarchy, ranging in scale from genes, to cells, to tissues, to organs, to organisms, to species, and up to the level of the biosphere. Biodiversity (an abbreviation of "biological diversity") describes the diversity of life from genes to ecosystems and spans every level of biological organization. The term has several interpretations, and there are many ways to index, measure, characterize, and represent its complex organization.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
