Sickle cell anemia is a blood disease affecting the red blood cells. These cells have become sickle shaped, like the letter "C". They can then obstruct the flow of blood through the blood vessels.

Sickle cell is a blood disorder in which the red blood cells of the body are in the shape of a sickle or half moon. This causes the cells to have difficulty passing through the blood vessels, getting stuck and obstructing the flow of blood to the rest of the body.
