What is the difference between Great Britain United Kingdom and the British Isles?

Great Britain was the name of the country adopted when England and Scotland united in 1707. When the country joined with Ireland in 1800 it adopted the name of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland The British Isles is a geographical term and refers to the island group of the local area.
