Where can I get a new Cingular cell phone for a good price that only requires a 1-year service plan?

Last year I got a T-Mobile Sidekick from Amazon and only had to commit to 1 year. New cell phones this year require 2 years! I think I like the Sony Ericsson W810i.

Unfortunately, Cingular doesn't have any standard 1-year plans The only plan-set up Cingular has that has less than a 2-year contract is the Go-Phone or pay-as-you-go plans which I linked you to. In general I've been told Cingular is a mega pain in the behind about that and my friends prefer T-Mobile or Verizon with the one-year plan rather than be locked down for two years. The ones listed on the link however are by monthly and thus you keep your options open to you.

I didn't think it was possible... you just have to pay $50 more for the phone. You could just call your local Cingular and ask them if its possible. I just called my local store (Alpharetta GA) and asked - and yes it is possible, but with a new phone and 1yr plan - its an additional $50.
