Which camera would you recommend: Canon A710 IS or Panasonic DMC-TZ1?

I'm looking for a compact big zoom (6x+) digital camera, with some amount of manual control. The DMC-TZ1 seems to be nice (has a bigger zoom 10x rather than 6x), but I am concerned about: 1) more noise, 2) the lack of manual metering control. I could be convinced the exposure compensation plus spot metering can compensate the lack of manual metering control, but I am not so sure about the noise.

The Panasonic has a longer zoom, but personally I'm not convinced Having seen comparisons between comparable panasonic and canon cameras, the canons almost always produce true-er to life color results. Several members of my family have various panasonic cameras, and the photos they get as results are primarily what caused me to buy another Canon (Powershot S3 IS) when I bought a new camera recently. Unfortunately, I still haven't found the perfect compact/ultracompact camera in this category. It seems you either sacrifice image quality, zoom length, I.S. , or size.

I chose to sacrifice size..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
