Who else thinks politicians should have to live on welfare/min wage and take a vow of poverty while in office?

ANY amount of free stuff will be taken advantage of. $500 a month can do quite a bit to discourage the bums from moving out of mom's basement. You'll have the drug addicts using it to subsist and supplement whatever other money they can get to buy drugs, you'll have the welfare losers putting in false claims, you have to administer & regulate the whole damn thing (more bureaucrats and waste in Washington).

I agree with eliminating the absurd variety of programs out there to simplify but only if it's a gradual step to eventually eliminate the dependencies. The only way to deal with people who truly have NO means of support is to let private charitable organizations regulate the handouts at a low level.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
