Why do we say " mother tongue" and not "father tongue" when everything else is linked to the?

Because we talk about Mother Nature and Mother Country, because the land is always feminine, it grows and nurtures things, and feeds us. Tler tried The Father Land, and look what a mess he made of Germany and the rest of the world.

M glad atleast there is something linked to mother ...i believe at least half things should be linked to mother..like middle name can be mother's since surname is father's..by that way child would have both mother's and father's identity ..as far as your question is concerned The term "mother tongue" should not be interpreted to mean that it is the language of one's mother. In some paternal societies, the wife moves in with the husband and thus may have a different first language than the husband. Mother in this context probably originated from the use of "mother" as origin; as in mother-country or mother-land.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
