Yes there are. Conservative Democrats tend to be national security hawks. Joe Lieberman would be a good example.

Same with Zell Miller. Liberal Republicans also called RINOs for Republican in Name Only, favor big spending gov't, lots of social programs etc.

There is one perfect example of conservative Democrats in recent history. During the first two years of Obama's Presidency, he had total control of both The House and The Senate. Republicans could stop nothing, yet were continually blamed for gridlock and blocking Obama's plans.

The truth is, the reason Obama could get nothing passed is because 40 Democrats stood repeatedly against Obama, and with House Republicans, who remained united. The two senators from Maine, Olympia Snowe, and I can't remember the other one's name, are perfect examples of Liberal Republican. There are others, but these two are the most obvious.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
