Why won't my PC boot from the CD-Rom drive, while I'm trying to reinstall Windows XP?

If you can, borrow a boot disk for a different operating system and try it. Many cd/dvd utilities also are bootable disks. 1.

If that won't boot either, you almost certainly have a hardware problem. The first bit to check is the button battery that powers the BIOS memory. If that's not it, the box needs a shop and you need to be prepared for the possibility that your northbridge controller chip on the mobo or another critical part is fubar.

2. If that does boot, you should check the BIOS battery anyway and replace if it isn't producing correct voltage. Else, it seems that something that Windows requires isn't there any more or can't be found.

This too requires a shop.

I suspect that your hard drive is bad. Here is a free utility to test the health of your hard drive; seatools for DOS. You will have to burn it to a bootable cd to run it.

Good luck.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
