Why won't my ps3 detect my external hard disk?

I suspect you may have something wrong in your set up so I'll try to help if I can! 1. Check your external hard drive's file system type by attaching it to your desktop or laptop computer and turning it on.

Connect the external hard drive to your computer again to copy and paste music, picture and video files onto your external hard drive, then reconnect it to your PS3. In summary... It sounds like the external hard disk is probably NTFS format. PS3 can only read FAT32 format. You will need to reformat the hard disk in FAT32 on your PC.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
