There's a short in the fixture. I'd say that there is a short in the fixture that's allowing the electricity to flow into the bulb unregulated. You should stop using the fixture and either replace it or rewire.

1 Light bulbs are only able to handle a certain amount of wattage. Sounds like to me that too much wattage is going into the lightbulb burning it out. Either get a higher wattage bulb or find a way to bring down the wattage.

Good Luck! .

2 Something is wrong. Is the voltage too high for the rating of the bulb? (You have to measure the voltage with an AC voltmeter.

Sometimes it is to high coming into the house). Is it getting overheated? Are they defective?

Is a bad connection making them flicker? .

4 There is a light socket on either side of a bathroom mirror. They are exactly the same, but the one on the left keeps doing this over and over. The one on the right might burn out once every six months because overall they don't get used much.
