Why would someone want to write Horror Stories? I love writing them, but don't know why since reading them scares me?

I think that maybe what scares us also fascinates us. During Halloween there are always lots of haunted attractions around and I absolutely hate going to one because they scare me too badly. On the other hand I really love working in one and scaring other people.

Since horror stories really scare you I would imagine that you write really good ones. I know that the one thing where I am really creative is coming up with ideas to scare people and I have made many a full-grown man pee on himself. Because they have a lot of darkness in their imagination I write poetry... it's very, very dark poetry. It's about topics most people don't really talk about, and really a lot of things I haven't even experienced. Yet it's what is in my psyche, I guess, and what comes out when I put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).

I don't know why that is what comes out... but it is what it is :)When I did write short stories, they were always horror stories. Typically they were less "fantasy" and more reality - teenagers blowing up schools, terrorists, etc. Although they tended to have a supernatural edge to them... but you never knew if that was real or just imagined. Dunno why I write that way, just do :) Sources: My opinion .

I think it's the ability to use language to invoke terror; it's an ability that is unnatural and yet amusing I think the coolest way to look at horror stories, and perhaps why I would write them is if you were to take a look at HP Lovecraft. He tells a story that leaves out alot of details but is so descriptive of the environment that it makes you feel like you're there. You become totally immersed in the story and then when something happens, the descriptiveness disappears and you feel the bewilderment of the main character.

He makes you feel scared with just his language and I think he most likely prided himself on that. Additionally, alot of great historic horror writers such as Poe and Lovecraft did opium and i'm sure they saw all kinds of horrible things while doing it that they thought they should share with the world. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
