You are driving your 80 year old father to the doctors, on the way you have a terrible collision. The other driver is thrown from the car?

In a crisis I would most likely try to save the one who was physically closest before attempting to save the next person. Assuming they are equally distant, I would try and save the boy, that's what my father would probably want.

This is very similar to another question asked recently and since it's hypothetical I'll go for the 8 year old. The grandfather would be harder to move being probably bigger and may suffer from injuries that will cause him to die afterwards anyway. An 8 year old is lighter and will probably recover better or at least have a better chance at recovery.

There's also the age difference in that gramps has had a nice long life and may have been going to the doctor to be told of his terminal illness. An 8 year old has an entire potential life ahead and may be the next person to cure cancer (hopefully not the next unibomber). I would probably think too that gramps has a very giving nature and would be highly upset to learn that he had been saved and not an 8 year old.

A horrible situation - even if it is a hypothetical one! I'd save the boy. The men would have lived their lives while the boy was still young.

I do believe that is what most decent people would say. Mind you, if the boy was very badly injured I would be more likely to save my father as I would rationalize that the boy may not make it anyway.

I would save the one which has the most probability to survive and the closest and easiest to save first. If the other one is unconscious, I would less likely to save him because I would presume he was dead or that he wouldn’t able to work with me to save himself. If they’re both in the same condition, I would save the boy.

First consideration is a practical one, I am very weak physically. I couldn’t imagine ever helping someone in that situation and if I could, I would likely succeed with the kid because he’s lighter and smaller.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
