Can I use a "G" Linksys wireless network adapter on a different make "N" Belkin router?

It'll work, but keep in mind that if you connect a G device to an N network, then the entire N network is slowed down to G speeds while that G device is active. So it can have a big impact on your network speeds. The best option is to get a dual band router that basically creates two networks, an N and a G network so that the G doesn't slow down the N connections.

Apple's newest Airport Extreme does this, as well as various models from other manufacturers.

Also to reply to Danzee's answer, G is only 54mbps not 100, and that is basically only when the device is right next to the router. As the device gets farther away the signal will become weaker and speeds will slow down considerably. Like he said you might not notice it while doing basic web browsing, but you will with anything else like streaming video or transferring large files on your network.

Ditto. You will be knocked down to G speeds, but that's still 100 mbps. If you're just accessing the Internet, you won't see any difference.

You would only see it if you were transfering files from one machine to another.

It solves a lot of problems if you do not mix manufactures of equipment when wanting a fast wireless network. Keep it all Linksys or all Belkin.
