The residue on the bong (which your friend was carrying) and in the vaporizer (which you were carrying) counts as marijuana, and also makes the devices paraphernalia, so you don't need to be in possession of loose weed to be charged with possession. The vaporizer in your pocket was or would have been found when you were searched after being arrested (search incident to arrest) so the officer asking about it without Mirandizing you is irrelevant (inevitable discovery). As far as your friend "confessing to everything", you were still in possession of the "vape", so your are guilty.
