Wrote down the driver name for network adapter, installed driver and the driver will not work Any suggestions on what to do? Answer: You might want to try a couple things in order to get this adapter working. You may have already given these things a try, but I'll cover them anyway.1.

Try the manufacturer's CD with the driver for the network adapter. Sometimes the driver is a specific thing, and the XP default drivers won't do the trick.2. In the event that you don't have the CD anymore, you can try to download the latest and greatest driver from the manufacturer's website.

Usually if it's a reliable manufacturer, there will be reasonably good driver support. Often times there are upgrades or updates available as well.3. Turn off the Windows XP firewall.

Sometimes this can interfere with network settings. Right click My computer --> properties --> remote --> firewall settings.4. If you are running a wireless router, then you may need to re-enter the WEP (or other security settings) key.

Hopefully you won't encounter this problem, since it can be a real pain to reset the key.5. Go into hardware profiles / device manager and try to disable / re-enable the network adapter. If it's not showing on your list, then you can try to install / configure / detect new hardware through the control panel.

If all else fails, then you might have to buy another network adapter. Fortunately, they are relatively cheap and readily available at most computer stores. I hope this helps.

Look in there and maybe the solution will be obvious to you. First, confirm whether windows found the hardware. Then confirm that the hardware is configured properly.

Since I don't know your ability level I don't know how much detail to go into. The device manager is found by right clicking on "my computer" and clicking properties and then clicking the device manager button. Devices that are not installed will be indicated.

": The device manager listed under "Other" This is the second time that I have reinstalled a computer with Windows XP. Both times the network driver had to be reinstalled. With the one that I did today the Device Manager showed the Network Adapter with the quastion mark and exclamation mark of which I knew meant that it was not working.

I went and manually brought up the list of network drivers and found the one that I had been using on the same computer right before the reinstallation of Windows XP (I wrote down everything listed in the Device Manager before the reinstallation. ) I received a message when I chose that driver that it was not compatible with Windows XP. However, I tried to install it anyway since it was the one that was working before in the same computer with Windows XP.

It still didn't work. I tried turning off the firewall and reinstalling the driver and that didn't work. Went online (on another computer to see if I could download a more recent driver (at Intel) and there was only a choice to automatically download into the computer that I was on.

I guess I can try to contact them to get a download link that I can copy onto a CD. Not sure what else to do. Thanks!

Also before you re-install a driver, delete the device from Device Manager first, but you might have tried it ...I might not worth all these struggling, after all, you can find a network adapter these days for a fairly low price.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
