No, no, no, no. Egads, this new system is making me crazy! I'm a user that likes to check back in a few times a day, and the current set-up is stale, frustrating, and annoying.

The first thing I want to see on the MA home page is what's N-E-W. I wouldn't mind having a tab to click to see the most interesting - or if somehow there was a side column highlighting the 5 or 10 most interesting questions. I am so sick of seeing a handful of questions that are stuck at the top, that now I don't want to vote for ANY questions as interesting!

Even if they're good questions, now if I vote for them it's like I'm choosing to eat bananas for every meal, every day of the week. Sure bananas are good, but I can only eat so many of them so many times a day before I'm going to barf! No offense to juanvasconez, but I'm done learning how to make money online. No need to re-read it.

Another problem: You're just perpetuating a cyclical problem in which a question gets just a little initial attention, and then from its consistent exposure it automatically gets more traffic and more "Interesting" votes. It doesn't give new questions much of a chance to break into the cycle. They'd better get some "Interesting" votes within the first few hours of being posted, or they're gonna get hopelessly buried.

As it is, the excessive clicking and scrolling needed to find recently asked questions is getting irritating. And lastly there's the problem (as poetically described by @philipy above) of the incestuous nature of our community promoting questions about itself. New users will NOT want to see a front page practically full of good ol' friends patting eachother on the back.

Definitely a good idea to have a "Community" tab to highlight contests, belt tests, Mahaloans of the Day, and site updates, but too much of that at the top of the page muddies the water. Take us back to having the newest questions front and center, please! It'll save me a lot of "rabble-rabbling" during my day as I'm clicking and scrolling and sifting to find anything other than bananas!

.

I don't think it's an improvement. The problem is the same stuff sticks on the front page for days, and people get the feeling there aren't any new questions being asked. Also the things that make the most interesting list tend to be Mahalo community matters.

Things like Brown Belt tests, QOTD, discussions of features. It's all well and good to discuss those things, and I participate in them as much as anyone. But I think too much of that at the top of the page is off putting for the casual or first-time visitor. My suggestion would be to break out the community internal topics into another section of their own.

Maybe another tab? Then the regulars can be sure to check them but they don't have to trouble everyone else that's just passing by. Same applies to the questions that are featured in the box on mahalo.com.

Too many of them are incestuous and meaningless to the casual visitor.

I view the home page about 346 times a day (addict). I like the previous flow of questions that would pop up and come through the main page. With the change now, it almost feels like there aren't as many questions coming through (even though I know that isn't true).

If Mahalo Answers were a live organism, I'd give it some prune juice.

I have to say I don't like it as it presently stands. When I have the drop down set to newest questions, I want to see the newest questions. If I had it set to most interesting, then I would expect that.

I would make them however you want by default, and make the results accurately represent our choice on the drop down.

I like the idea as well. Though I think the "sort by" choices are getting a bit confusing. I think that the "Newest First" option should really show the newest questions first (and not those that were most recently answered) The top section should show the tipped questions and the bottom the non-tipped, but in straight order of asking.

Likewise Most Interesting should be in direct order of interesting votes. But the current default view is nice as well. I just think it should get a new name (something to the effect of "Default View", but a bit more sexy) One other thought.

Would it be better to have the sort by options as links just under the current tabs instead of a drop-down? Something like: Sort by: Most Interesting | Newest | Oldest | ghest Tip | Mahalo Related (And perhaps some kind of choice for "Default View") The dropdown is OK, but I think beginner users would be more likely to use simple links. Plus I think they are faster.

It makes sense to give attention to the most interesting, but like many have said here, they get old quick. I kinda like seeing the newest tipped questions at the top. It's much easier to keep track of the questions this way.

Otherwise when there is a new tipped question, you have to scroll through and look carefully in the mix to find them. We have the sort by most interesting feature right? I think people can use that if they want to see the most interesting.

Personally, I like it a lot, I like the fact that the most interesting questions, (whether they are tipped or not) get so much face time on the front page, its making for more views on the those pages and many more answers as well. I also think this will encourage users to click "interesting" more. I would like to hear what users think of the staleness?

Is it a concern to users that questions at the top have been there for over a day or two? If staleness is a concern to others I wonder if the solution would be to put a few recent tipped ahead of the most interesting? 5 Most Recent Tipped 10 Most interesting 5 more recent tipped 10 untipped Even easier, just flip the 10 recent tipped with the 10 most interesting.

For users who add money to their question it would be nice if they could get a moment or two of having their question right at the top of MA.

I really want to see what's new . . .

Not the same questions that were at the top yesterday. It just seems to get old and I get uninterested unless I make sure to go to some categories I'm interested in. A nice addition would be to have a count of how many unanswered questions there are in a specific category.

I would suggest doing this on the right hand column of categories like this: "Coupons and Deals (5)" I just don't have the newest computer and it takes alot of time to get to the specific categories. This makes it annoying when there's nothing in the category (or nothing new). Other than these complaints (which are in part due to my slow computer), I am enjoying being a new member of Mahalo.

Hope some of the bugs are fixed soon though. Thanks.

It doesn't help the real problem, which is that we cannot filter by subject or source. Actually, it makes it worse because now new tipped questions get kicked off into invisibility right away if one of those folks trying to get most questions or something dashes off a dozen. That happened to my latest question.

I like it, it provides a good introduction to the community of Mahalo to new Mahalo Answers users. As previous people have mentioned it may need some tweaking. The reality is that as Mahalo answers grows the front page will become less useful to us old timers because there are only so many questions that can fit there.

The good news is that people will be able to drill down into areas of interest and find questions that they want to answer because they are knowledgeable in that particular area. Jason's comment about needing a sheriff's tool is correct. Like a good garden the front page will need tending and pruning by a deft hand, there is only so much machines can do without us people to guide them.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
