Baked Apple Cereal Baked Apple Cereal 1. Peel, core and cut a small apple into small dices 2. Place in a pan with 1/4 c ground oats and 3/4 c water 3.

Bring mixture to a slow boil. Simmer covered, checking frequently, until apples are soft and oatmeal is cooked. 4.Be sure to stir and mash while cooking 5.

Mix in formula or breast milk or juice to thin if needed - puree if necessary (sprinkle a bit of cinnamon in the cereal if your desire and if baby is ready for or has had cinnamon) I like this recipe because I can give it to my 7 month old and my 3 year old. I also vary it by adding different fruits and vegggies. I got this recipe from wholesomebabyfood.com/ It's a great website.

It has tons of recipies and food combining ideas. I also like the book Super Baby Food.It has a lot of creative ideas, such as making your own crakers, and is healthy. We do we do! And boy are we happier for it. Baby food is so easy to make because it's almost always one thing at a time.

We like to pick our own apples, pears, and peaches, so those are obvious choices. When we make applesauce for ourselves, we just fill tiny jars, too. Make sure you process properly.

We've tried potatoes (regular and sweet) but our second son doesn't like either one, so we didn't get a lot of mileage out of that. Carrots and peas are easy, and carrots just take a bit more cooking. I recommend straining before blending so they don't come out stringy.

The one thing we've never tried was anything meat based, like the way you can buy "turkey" baby food. Meat products need to be processed differently, and we've always worried about a dangerous slip-up. It's been very satisfying doing this.My wife is organic all the way, and it's very expensive to buy organic baby food.

But a few organic apples from the local orchard (have to search around to find an organic one, but they're there) and half an hour in the kitchen, and we've got dozens of baby food jars for only a few bucks. It's almost ridiculous how much commercial baby food costs..

1 yayyy! Great question... my babies four months and not eating solids yet... but it be great to have some neat treats for him when he can... watch list this goes! Good question!

2 Oh TeeTee, you are going to have sooooo much fun. There isn't a meal that goes by that doesn't bring a whole lot of laughter. It was the same with my 3yo.It's also incredibly easy to make baby food and freeze it in ice cube trays.

I took one sniff and bite of jarred bananas when my 3yo was a baby and said no way. YUCK! Most of the stuff I make gets served to my family.

I just don't put it through the processor.

3 I don't have a recipe to add, because my babies are still just eating single foods, but I make my own baby food too, and I have found this website to be incredibly helpful. Thought I'd share in case anyone doesn't know about it:wholesomebabyfood.com/ .
