I used to watch my own German grandmother make this dish & although time consuming it is soooooooo worth it. I make a huge batch for my family so I don’t know how to make it smaller. 10 lbs of potatoes 12 to 18 eggs 2 bunches of green onion half or a whole jar of pickles 2 to 3 packages of bacon Best Foods mayo Frenchs mustard while the potatoes & eggs are boiling I chop up the onion & pickles.
And add both to a bowl I cook the bacon crispy so it will not get soggy in the salad. YUCK! Once the eggs are done & cooled, I separate the yolks from the whites & put the yolks in a separate bowl for the sauce.
I dice the white of the eggs & add it to the pickles & onions. Once the potatoes are done I quarter them & put them in a huge huge bowl. Now I am ready for the sauce.
I mash the yolks with my fork & add salt & pepper. I have never measured mayo or the mustard, but since my family loves it kinda juicy, I use the whole jar of mayo & less than that of mustard. I always add bout half a cup ... more.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
