Have you given your dog Newman's Own Dry Dog Food? Seems like a name you can trust?

Seems like a name you can trust! As I am trying to eat healthier, so I thought perhaps the pets should too. Both cat and dog eat Purina One.

The cat eats the urinary tract health formula. Dog sometimes gets IAMS. This was about as good as I could buy in rural Minnesota.

Now that we are back on the east coast, I thought I would research again. I can't afford real expensive dog food. I am only interest in dry kibble style - not raw diet... Thanks!

I highly recommend that product. I have just put my 4 dogs on Newman's organic dog food and the difference in their coats is unbelievable. I am assuming this outward change reflects their general improvement in overall health.

Nature's Variety First off, just so you're aware, dog foods like Purnia One, Iams, Science Diet, etc. Are some of the very worse brands of manufactured pet food you can possibly give your pets. Although some vets and chain pet stores push specific products, you have to realize that it's because they get paid to, as these corporations are their sponsors.To start, narrow down the good dog food brands from the bad by looking at the ingredients on the back. You do NOT want to have corn, by-products, or grains.

The closer to the top of the ingredient list (first 5), the worse off the dog food is to have corn & any meat by-product especially. Grains aren't exactly "Bad" for your dog, but it's a filler food. Think about it, how many dogs in the wild seek to eat rice, wheat & grains from a field?

Your dog does not need it in his/her diet. Since you're not interested in the raw diet, which in all honesty, will save you in vet bills in the long run, but can run about the same in cost (for my doberman, it's $15/month more expensive to feed her raw meat opposed to dry kibble & for my chihuahua, it's actually CHEAPER to feed him raw than the kibble), try looking into brands such as Evo & Nature's Variety. Nature's Variety does offer raw meat, but it also does dry kibble, and gives you the option to purchase kibble made with and without grains.

VeRus is not too expensive because it is a basic food that does not go over the top with unnecessary ingredients. You may want to check on their website and see if it is sold locally. Otherwise it would be expensive to have it shipped, but I have been very happy with this food.
