When you first visit your physician with symptoms of abdominal pain, cramping and constipation or diarrhea, your doctor listens to your symptoms and after an examination and possibly some laboratory or imaging studies, arrives at a diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The fact that your laboratory tests are basically normal insures the relative integrity of your homeostatic healing system. So you and your doctor will move on to the treatment healing system, in which you will be given a trial-and-error series of drugs, dietary recommendations and herbal remedies in an attempt to relieve your symptoms.
Remember, you are a partner in this process. If treatment at this level succeeds, you will probably proceed no further. However, if your symptoms continue to disrupt and control your life, then you would proceed to the mind/body healing system for help, while continuing to work with your doctor.
You would examine particular lifestyle choices, stressors/triggers, attitudes, thoughts and beliefs that could be contributing to your physical symptoms and distress. Although you would be working with your doctor, perhaps with the help of a therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist, you would actively participate in your own treatment and assume responsibility for mind/body healing. Then if you could not find the comfort and relief that you desire, you would move on to the next level of healing, the spiritual healing system. At this level, you will require the continued support of your doctor as a healing resource, but you may also require the help of a spiritual counselor (pastor, priest, rabbi, guru or mentor) to help you navigate the realms of consciousness, meaning and connectedness.
At this level you will begin to intuitively discover your own narratives about illness and health, pain and suffering, life and meaning. As you probe the depths of consciousness and discover who you are and what gives your life meaning, purpose and transcendence, you will begin to experience greater spiritual peace and health.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
