Well, if you want to record on the VHS/DVD deck, you should see if you can connect the Comcast cable box to the VHS/DVD deck and then the deck to the TV. That way you can burn a DVD when you want to record something you want to keep.

Thanks. That's what I am trying to do. I need to know how to connect them all up.

Well, you'll have to tell us what kind of connections each item has. What are the plugs going out of the cable box, what are the plugs coming out of the DVD player, what are the in plugs on the TV? Are there any video in plugs on the DVD player.

None of them might be compatible with the others.

The cable box has RF In, RF Out, component (Y, Pb, Pr), composite Video and Audio L & R, and also has HDMI and S-video. The VHS/DVD recorder has RF In, RF out , HDMI AV out, Audio/Video Output terminals (DVD/VHS Common Out), Audio/Video Input terminals, S-Video input, /Video Output terminals (DVD Priority Out), S-Video output terminal, Digital Audio Out Terminal and Component Video Out (only) terminals. I didn't have the VHS/DVD recorder when I got the HDTV so the HDMI Cable DVR is currently hooked to the HDTV via a HDMI cable and component (Y, Pb, Pr) cable.

I am trying to work it so that I can record from the TV to the Cable DVR and to the VHS/DVR Recorder as well as record something from the Cable DVR to a DVD in the VHS/DVD recorder. Does that make sense? I'm so confused!

Please ignore my last two posts. I noticed some mistakes and corrected them/clarified want I am attempting to do. Everything should be right now.

Well, it looks like the DVD/VHS deck can go HDMI directly to the TV, but the only direct connection out of the cable box that matches what the DVD deck has is the S-video and R-W RCA audio connectors. Alternatively, you can try to loop the cable box RF into the DVD deck and then RF it or HDMI it into the TV. The cable box is probably outputting on channel 3 or 4, so you could just tune in one of those channels on the DVD deck.

You can try that.

Well I ended up hooking the vhs/dvd recorder to the HDTV using the HMDI and the Red white yellow cables. (I don't know if I need them or not since I have the HDMI(?), I but have left them attached. I left the Cable box hooked up to the HDTV as it was (with the component cables).

I then ran the RF out of the cable box into the VHS/DVD recorder. I am able to record something from the TV to the VHS/DVD recorder now. (I of course can still record to the Cable DVR.) I am also able to record on the VHS/DVD recorder something that has been recorded on the Cable DVR!

Sucess! Thank you so much for your help. TechChallenged 14 months ago .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
