GETTING BACK TO SELF CARE AFTER BABY - Step One:Rest. Decent sleep is probably the most overlooked fitness plan in America. But good sleep helps our bodies (and minds) handle stress, burn fat, repair damaged cells (and after delivering a baby - there's some repair that needs to take place) and think clear. If you're not getting adequate rest, look at ways you can begin to get better sleep.
My coaching question to you is HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN YOU'RE NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP? And how will you know when you are? Please share your ideas here and with friends - and as sisters, we can help one another begin to operate at our best!

It is thought that getting to sleep before midnight is best and sleeping until you feel rested is best. When we get enough sleep we have a sense of inner peace - can more easily handle the small bumps in the road - the daily challenges we encounter. Often times we get so busy it is difficult to stop and rest.
Also when there are changes in our life - something in particular - anything new also oftentimes includes a sense of loss and with that we need more rest to process it all. I offer coaching services and this year work on a sliding scale. I have not slept in 19 years. I know I am sleeping since I watch the clock all night, run to the bathroom all night, pet my cats, take vitamins, toss and turn etc...I am totally awake, but sometimes in stage one like a day dream. I feel less energy in the morning and feel exhausted, I can hardly sit up in the day, my adrenals are exhausted and more.
I have gotten better with adding zinc, detoxing heavy metals, adding amino acids and vitamins that increase the oxygen in my brain....but to get real sleep would be wonderful. I can be this tired and still can't nap. I am trying to take LDN that helps to block Celiac...hoping it will help my sleep and heal my body.
When my kids were babies I only got 5 hours sleep a night and made less breast milk. Breast feeding helps you to lose weight and is great for the baby. Eventually my thyroid slowed down and then stopped.
I could not make enough breast milk but didn't know why. It helped to have each child in a separate room, so they didn't wake each other up then they were hungry at night. Growth hormone is released while you sleep. It is important for kids and adults.
Easier to answer how you know when you ARE getting enough sleep. "Enough" sleep means not length of time sleeping, but the quality of the sleep you get. Five hours of quality sleep for one person may be far more healthful than 9 hours of fitful sleep for another.
If you wake feeling weary, you have not had quality sleep. If you wake with a smile (before the problems of the day come back to mind), you have had enough sleep. Breathing problems, excessive dreaming, bad mattress, being too warm or too cold, lumpy pillow ... any number of things can contribute to a bad night's sleep.
Amen to helping one another, sisters and brothers! Breathing problems, snoring, mouth breathing... consult an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) doctor. Excessive, overly physical dreams ... talk to doctor.
A change in meds may be needed. Mattress or Pilllow to blame? Try sleeping elsewhere-- chair, couch, floor-- to compare how you feel in the morning.
Too warm, too cold? Best to sleep in cool room with enough cover. Too warm a room may also contribute to breathing problems. No one can stress enough the importance of quality sleep.
Your body and mind will beat you up if you don't get it. Wow...just wow. It's pretty simple...if you are tired during the day and find yourself nodding off, then you are not getting enough sleep. If you don't start nodding off until your usual bedtime the next evening, then you are getting enough sleep.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
