There is a set of switches at one door, one for fan, one for light there is a second door with one switch that sends power to both Asked by imchar 36 months ago Similar questions: wire ceiling fan light wall switches Consumer Electronics.

You can't get there from here. The switch setup you describe is not going to be truly functional without the use of electronic control systems. The best you could do with what you describe is to have the switches in series, in which case the switches at both doors would have to be on for the fan to work.
If you put TWO switches at EACH door (total of four) then you could use three-way switches, in two pairs. One at each door would control the fan, and one at each door would control the light. More commonly with mechanical switch systems, there is a switch at each door to control the light, and one switch that only controls the fan.In modern installations, it is more common to have one switch tucked away somewhere that turns the fan off for service, or an electronic wall transmitter with a mechanical "off" setting.
This wall transmitter, or a handheld remote, sends radio signals to a reciever in the fan, which then controls the electricity at the fan to achieve the fan and light settings. The precise wiring methods are a bit too complex for me to teach you how to do over the internet. Unless you have a good grasp of electric wiring, you are much better off hiring a licensed electrician to perform the work for you.

1 You'd better get an electrician if you plan on wiring the ceiling fan so that the 'light only' comes on with a wall switch, separate from the fan. Ceiling fans have all or nothing power going to them -- the only way to turn the light or fan off or on is by the individual pull chains, once power is coming from the switch. This isn't ignorance on my part or yours -- it's just the way ceiling fans are wired. It can be done, but it requires rewiring the ceiling fan -- something that's a good definition of being more trouble than it's worth, except for someone who's really qualified.
Don't attempt this if you had to ask.

2 I re-read your question, and if you are merely wondering about how to install the ceiling fan when there are three switches, that's not hard. Just like you would if there were only one switch -- connect the wires in the fan to the wires in the junction box of the same colours. If you have more wires in your ceiling than you have in your fan, you can get a meter to see which wires are live -- but it's best to get an electrician. It's not safe to get advice from people like me or on askville.

TheLightWorks replied to post #1: 3 FYI, unless a ceiling fan has a built-in radio control reciever, there are always separate leads installed so the light and fan can be controlled by separate wall switches - IF the original wiring in the house is installed to permit this. I certainly agree with you on calling an electrician, though.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
