Small portions, but it depends... I was always told small portions, so here I go.... start with small portions. Your baby will tell you if they want or need more.... since you are also still breast/bottle feeding them, they will probably not eat very much in the beginning.... however, my kids, ate like horses. They were always pretty small babies, skinny little things, but man could they eat!

I mixed a table spoon of rice cereal with less than 1 once of breastmilk. She was SO eager to eat it that she almost flipped the bowl:-) The first spoon I gave was full. Even though the spoon was baby type, very small, my baby almost spit it all out.

Then I realized she doesn't know how to take it from spoon yet. So I started to fill just the tip of a spoon exactly as turkermom suggested. That worked out pretty well:-) My daughter finished about half of what I prepared:) .
