How often do you click on an avatar or name to check out someone's askville profile?

Profiles Very rarely. Only when I see a new face here, especially if they ask to be friends and I don't know a thing about them. Or if I'm wondering if the asker is a male or female, for whatever reason.

But other than that, I really don't do it too often. When I have, it's interesting to read the funny ones! One that I've always enjoyed is Vacation Boys!

What a clever man he is! Even in his lists of things he's read/seen/been, there is great humor and imagination. It's a fun read.

But I can't say that I've found too many things "unexpected" on people's profiles--maybe because I don't look at them enough! But there's really only so much you can do on the page..Is there something I've missed and need to see?!.

Yes: I've tend to click on profiles of just about any new user I encounter. Most of the time it's all very pedestrian and normal. I can't say I've been surprised.

I don't think the profiles give enough information to really surprise someone. I have been surprised in going to some users' web pages and seeing who they are in their own "web space" as opposed to here on Askville. I'd rather not name names - but there are some extremely interesting and colorful characters here..

Not very often But when I do I am usually amused to see the little snippets on their profile .

Fairly often, actually If something says something particularly smart or stupid or that piques my curiosity in some way, I'll look at their profile. By doing this I have found people who: live in my current home town live very close to where I used to live live in places where I've been live outside the US are the opposite gender from what I assumed based on their avatar, name, or posts are much older or younger (based on college graduation age) than I assumed The most surprising thing, though, is when they haven't posted any personal information about career or interests. I like to learn more about people (particularly their jobs) and I'm not sure why people decline to provide that information.
