I am quite certain the 5D has more features, in addition to the full frame sensor. However, if you're shooting sports, the crop factor may work in your favor, by giving your zoom lenses a little more zoom. The full frame sensor will make the 200 truly 200 instead of what your 30D does, giving you a 1.6 crop factor, so its a 112-300 zoom lens instead.

You probably already knew that though. If you are shooting sports in low light, the 5D mk2 will give you a more profound depth of field thanks to the full frame sensor. So unless you are willing to part with the extra zoom capabilities, or get another zoom lens, theres not really any benefit that I can see.

Right now it's the winter sports season in the Midwest so everything is in a gym. Mffoto 13 months ago .

Sorry, for photography I really don't know, I have the 7D and use it purely for video.

I disagree... a full frame camera would be a better choice. Llet me explain... DSLRs generally come in two formats... "cropped" and "full frame. ".

Full framed means that the CCD/CMOS sensor has the same dimensions of the old technology 35mm film cameras (actually 36mmx24mm). Cropped (aka 1.6x crop) means that the sensor is 40% smaller than the full frame sensor. Say you put a 200mm telephoto on a cropped camera and an identical lens on the full frame... what happens?

Here is what happens:Cropped: The sensor is smaller and so it captures a smaller piece of the incoming image. The "digital negative" (image off the sensor) will be 40% smaller in both dimensions than on the full frame sensor. Will there be more enlargement/zoom on the cropped camera?

I will appear to have more zoom... but appearances are very decieving in this instance. The angle of view is smaller only. Such as if you were using a higher focal lenght lens (but without the benefits of resolution)... just s smaller piece of the available picture. In fact you can calculate the angle of view... 200 mm would show the same image as if you put a 380 mm telephoto on a full frame camera.

This will clarify... imagine you have an 8x10" photo of yourself and it is of just your face... your face fills the entire photograph all the way to the edges. Say this is the "Full Frame" 200 mm shot.Now... imagine you take a sissor and cut the photo to "zoom" in on only one eye. You cut away all of the photo except for one eye and it is a small piece of the entire image.

Could you show someone the "eye" photo and claim it is more "zoomed in"? More of an enlargement?No... but it has the same apparent Field of View (FOV) as if you went to a much higher telephoto focal lenght. You could put the small eye photo on a photocopier and enlarge it too 8x10" to get the same size photo as the full frame but the resolution hasn't improved.. it has gotten worse... maybe now pixelating.

Full frame cameras are always better.

Actually the image size on a 1.6x crop factor camera using a 200mm lens would be 320mm. The down sides to a full frame camera is that just like LCD TVs... the price of the camera grows exponentially with size (and so does the camera and weight of it). The full frame sensors have more light gathering ability so can operate faster...that is a plus.

The image attached shows the crop factor with black square the full frame... the green being the 1.6x cropped camera... yellow is 1.5x, and red is 1.3x crop factor camera field of view (FOV). Jpg.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
