The Canon 180mm or Tamron 180mm will give awesome results and are easy to use! I have used several different Macro lenses on my Canon film and Dig. Cameras.
The Canon 100mm is a nice lens, and the Tamron 90mm is a nice lens. The tokina was soso and the sigma I would not not suggest to anyone! The Tamron 180mm for the $ has to be the best Value!
Its has a longer working distance which will allow more natural light to the subject, as well as allow you to shoot insects better without scaring them off. The only reason I went to the Canon L series was because a friend I let borrow my Tamron 180mm wanted to buy it from me for her trip to Yosemite, so I then upgraded to the Canon L series. I have also used the MP-E 65mm and its a fun lens, but has a very narrow range of use, so unless you are shoot a lot of tiny items, in a well lite indoor setting I would not suggest it.
I would also suggest a good Macrolite flash. Both the 14 and 24 are good, I prefer the 24 as it gives of better light, but either will work fine for most uses. I have used the 180mm for insects, like bees and grasshopers, even praying mantis, as well as flowers, and leaves.
I shot a dried up leaf covered in show the other day with the 180 w/o any flash. If I had a small lens I would have had more issues because I would not have been able to get the same nature lighting on it. Also remember on the 30D the crop factor will come into play.So you will get greater than 1:1 on it.
So a lens with a greater working distance will be even more helpful then. You can see a few examples of what I mean in the site listed under sources. Acratech Ultimate Ballhead with Quick Release & Detent Pin, and Right Sided Rubber Main & Pan Knobs, Supports 25 lbs. Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 1 reviews) Here are some great choices to consider. You will need a good tripod and head.
I find the Acratech to be the best bang for the $ as they are strong and light weight. Also less $ than the kirk or RSS but stronger and easier to make fine adjustments on..
EF-S 60MM I have an XTI and I simply love this lense. It is amazingly sharp and it's so much fun to use when taking marco pics. I can't recommend this lense enough.
Check out the reviews of it on photozone. De, it is simply amazing. Others will probably also suggest the EF 100MM which is also a great lens and it is compatible with a FF camera where as the 60MM is not so if you plan to move up and buy a FF you might want to check out the 100MM Sources: photozone.De jmwhosh's Recommendations Canon EF 100mm f/2.
8 Macro USM Lens for Canon SLR Cameras Amazon List Price: $549.99 Used from: $410.00 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 58 reviews) Canon EF-S 60mm f/2. 8 Macro USM Digital SLR Lens for EOS Digital SLR Cameras Amazon List Price: $639.99 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 29 reviews) Not sure why the 60MM is listed at 639.99, I purchased mine online 6 months ago for about 330.00 .
Canon EFs 60mm I'd stick with the EF-s 60mm macro lens. It's an EF-s lens, which means it's made for APS-C (1.6x crop) sensors like your 30D. I'd recommend starting here as it's a good, general macro lens.
Another option is the 50mm f/2. 5 Macro, which is also very sharp, but for most macro work, the longer the focal length the better. If you need even more, the Canon EF 100mm macro or the 180mm "L" are also good, but cost quite a bit more.
Stick with the less expensive 60mm until you know that you need more. Sources: Experience as a photographer.
Check the details. On a budget: Sigma 105 f2.8, Yes the AF is slow but it is a macro lens. Or Think about the 150mm if you need more working distance for bugs and stuff .
There is also a good Tamoron 90mm that people seem to like. Short canon macro: 50mm f2.5 great, cheap and flexible lens but a bit short for bugs and other shy stuff. Sigma also do a 50mm but I have no idea how good it is.
Medium canon macro: 105 f2.8 USM aparently not as sharp as the sigma 105 but some peope prefer the USM if they are going to use the lens for general non macro stuff where AF is worth having. This lens is probably your best bet if you want to stick with canon lenses. Extension tubes on a regualr 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 are also an option.
Personally I have the sigma 105, it is the lens I use the most and the lens I get the best results with. Sources: http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=38098&page=1 .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
