I have been playing a beginner's electric guitar for 7 years. Should I get a new one?

The words "classic rock tone" cover a lot of ground. I'm guessing you mean a medium distortion "rock crunch" kind of tone like AC/DC, etc. Can't really agree with what Robert is saying. There are far more than two classic sounds.

The first one he mentions is known as Claptons "Woman Tone", but that is not how Clapton achieved it. He actually used the middle position and turned the tone down on the bridge pickup. But for the rhythm part of most classic rock songs you will use the bridge pickup on a Les Paul.

With any amount of gain a Les Paul will get very dark in the middle or neck position. You also do not need a pedal for this. The Crush has very good gain tones.

Just start with Treble, Bass, Mid and Gain all at 12:00 o'clock (half way). Then simply adjust each until you get the tone you are after. There is no one answer for how to do this, you just have to experiment some.

But getting a classic rock tone out of that rig should be very easy.

A Pedal would be your best bet. There are my available so worth trying out a few at a local music shop.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
