I live in a 6 unit townhome. I am a middle unit. Next door neighbor (end unit) whistled in my vents very loud.
How poss? Again, I am a middle unit, my neighbor is a end unit next to me. I clearly heard him whistle very loudly and the sound clearly came thhrough a wall vent either in my bedroom or hallway. It was a very clear and very loud whistle.
How was he able to do this? I also believe there is a listening device planted in some vent of mine - - whether secured in one of my roof vents (neighbor has his roof vents changed last winter), or inside one of the vents in my house (possibly planted by an ex-boyfriend who is connected to my neighbor). My neighbor knows my every conversation I have in my own home!
How is he doing this? Please help! My only proof to this harassment and infringement on my personal security is to find the recording/listening device in my venting system.
Are townhome duct/vent systems connected? This townhome subdivision is only 10 years old.Do I hire a private investigator to debug my vents? Please help!

Odds are he didn't plant a bug in your vents. How do I know? Most people don't behave that way.
They don't have the time or the inclination unless they're government and are investigating you for a crime. In reality the insulation is probably not so great between where the vents get close and sound gets through and that's why you heard the whistle. I'd call a contractor and see if you can get it checked out and see what it'd cost to get it fixed.
I'd also maybe try talking to the neighbor and be friendly. He's probably a nice guy and you're freaking out because you don't know him and he casually mentioned something you talked about in conversation. He might even be willing to go halves on the contractor if you're pleasant enough.
Also, let me ask you a few questions. Do you ever:Do you often suspect others are exploiting, harming, or deceiving you? Are you preoccupied with doubts about the loyalty or trustworthiness of friends or associates?
Are you reluctant to confide in others because of fear that the information will be used maliciously against you? Do you read hidden demeaning or threatening meanings into everyday remarks or events? Do you persistently bear grudges--i.e.
Are you unforgiving of insults, injuries, or slights--or perceive frequent attacks on your character or reputation and are you quick to react angrily or to counterattack? Have recurrent suspicions regarding fidelity of your spouse or sexual partner? If you answer yes to all those, you may want to talk to someone about it.

If you think you can't do it yourself, you hire a private investigator. Eliminating the real cause of that problem would make you feel secure. Besides, you have the right to have your own privacy.

TurboB replied to post #2: 3 I doubt it. To save cost, I am sure they share common ductwork. Before you go to the expense of hiring a private detective - do you have any handyman/woman friends?
If there is some sort of mic system in the vent that is close enough to pick up sound from your place, it should be in your part of the duct work, and easy to find.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
